前文提到,很多人都誤以為尼龍 "D數"越高,就代表你越密,耐用度和防水度就越高。

上圖就是好例子。

雖然兩種都是彈性尼龍性質,單純看數字的話 1680D 的確是較高的。但事實上,1050D 是用上兩層織物製成,密度高一倍,故也可以說成 "2100 D”。

也難怪 1050D 彈性尼龍都是軍方認證的物料。

相反,1680D 是很出名用製造背囊,或行李袋,因為價錢相對較低。質量當然不能夠與軍用物料相比。

This seems like a digest from a post by Tom Bihn in the Tom Bihn forum (or a piece from Alex Kwa, which could also be traced back to Tom Bihn). But I think Tom Bihn was specifically comparing the abrasion resistance performance of the Tom Bihn acquired 1050D Ballistic against the cheap Chinese 1680D “ballistic”, which uses 1×1 basket weave instead of 2×2 that is in Cordura Ballistic 1680D, while there is no evidence that the Tom Bihn 1050D is stronger than the Cordura Ballistic 1680D. In fact if I remembered correctly, Tom Bihn tested his 1050D (under Abrasion ASTM 3884?) which survived ca. 2000 circles, but 1680D boasted to punch way above 3000 circles.

On a side note, Ballistic is 彈道.
